Description |
|
The smokybrown cockroach is one of the
largest species of cockroach. They are winged
and grow to a length of 1 1/4 - 1 3/8 inches. It is
related to the American cockroach. It is
reddish-brown in color, however, unlike the
lighter shade of brown which is sometimes found
in the American cockroach. |
|
Biology/Habitat |
|
The smokybrown cockroach prefers warm and
humid environments. It often lives around the
perimeter of buildings, and is a common species
outdoors in the southern US states. It can feed
off of a wide array of organic, including
decaying matter. Like most cockroaches, it is a
scavenger. It tends to need greater moisture
than the other cockroaches, requiring water
every two to three days. |
