Description |
|
The brown-banded cockroach is a small
species of cockroach, measuring about 3/4 of an
inch long. It is tan to light brown. It has two
light-colored bands across its wings and
abdomen. The bands are often partly obscured by
the wings and sometimes appear to be broken or
irregular. While the female has a wider body,
the male has long wings, which cover a majority
of its body. |

Biology/Habitat |
|
The brown-banded cockroach is found mostly
in the northeast, south, and midwest regions of
the United States. They are nocturnal and
require less moisture than the German cockroach
so they tend to be found mostly in homes. Male
brown-banded cockroaches have been known to fly.
Brown-banded cockroaches often hide their egg
cases in or under furniture, and behind
wallpaper, mounted pictures, posters and
calendars. |
